One of today's Washington Pest editorials asks why Democrats aren't coming up with their own plans to "fix" Social Security instead of gloating over foiling B*sh's SS plans.

Of course, one first has to accept the Rethugs' premise that Social Security is broke and requires fixing.

I guess it would never occur to the Posties that most Americans think Social Security is pretty much fine the way it is.

8. SS is a safety net, not an investment portfolio.
the repugs keep framing it as an investment, which is flat wrong. As long as they do that, it becomes easier to think "private accounts'

but social security was NEVER meant to be an investment, it was meant to be a safety net, whereing those who are working now pay for those who aren't working now, and those working in the future pay for those not working in the future.

We need to reframe this issue back to what its supposed to be.
