AP: Rice Calls for Vote on Bolton Nomination.
Again? Haven't we seen this "headline" at least three times?

Can't the stenographers find some News to report?
_______________________________________________

Condoleezza Rice gave no indication on Sunday that the Bush administration would accede to Democrats' demands for more information about John R. Bolton's requests for classified intelligence.

Senate Democrats say they will continue to try to block

President Bush's nomination of Bolton as U.N. ambassador. Although Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., plans to try on Monday to end a Democratic filibuster on the nomination, Democrats believe they still have enough votes to continue debate.

"What we need to do is we need to get an up-or-down vote on John Bolton," Rice said told ABC's "This Week."

"Let's find out whether, in fact, the Senate, in its whole, in its entirety, intends and wants to confirm him. That's all that we're asking," said Rice, who was interviewed in Jerusalem while on a Mideast trip.

1. better headline: Dodd :administration is filibustering their own nominee
One of Bolton's leading opponents, Sen. Christopher Dodd (news, bio, voting record), D-Conn, said the administration is "filibustering their own nominee" by refusing to supply information related to whether Bolton tried to "doctor or cook" information regarding U.S. intelligence.

Democrats say they want to check a list of 36 U.S. officials against names — initially blacked out — that Bolton requested and received from national security intercepts he reviewed.

Democrats rejected a list of seven names offered last week by GOP Sen. Pat Roberts (news, bio, voting record) of Kansas, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Asked whether the administration would comply with the Democrats' request, Rice said Roberts "has already spoken to the issue of the nature of those inquiries

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Cheney retires after '06 and she gets another promotion. Then she has "legitimacy" to run in '08.

Rice Doesn't Rule Out Recess Appointment for Bolton

WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice declined to rule out the possibility Sunday that President Bush would temporarily make John R. Bolton the U.N. ambassador if Senate Democrats continue stalling the nomination.
In a round of television interviews, Rice also gave no indication that the Bush administration would accede to Democrats' demands for more information about Bolton's requests for classified intelligence.

"What we need to do is we need to get an up-or-down vote on John Bolton," Rice told ABC's "This Week."

Senate Democrats say they will continue to try to block Bush's nomination of Bolton as U.N. ambassador. Although Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., plans to try on Monday to end a Democratic filibuster on the nomination, Democrats believe they still have enough votes to continue debate.

32. Look to Bolton to be the most scrutinized UN representative ever.
I would guess that the harassment laws at the UN are pretty severe. I would guess that diaries will be bought and opened. Think of all the leaks.

Bolton it seems will be the gift that just keeps on giving. I'm guessing that if his fantasies were frustrated in the US Department he was in to the extent that he had an explosion or 5 and targeted people for destruction..that the UN will be a killing field.

30. That's fantastic news!!!
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 07:18 PM by Gman
That means:
1) They don't intend to supply the requested documents and that means
2) They don't expect to get Bolton approved because he will be filibustered which also means
3) Bush will thoroughly piss off everyone (including Republicans of all but the radical right wing variety) just as we're getting to the 2006 election primaries which means
4) Bolton will be there by next year just in time to make a complete ass of his self as the election season is nearing. You can't effectively put a muzzle on the US ambassador to the UN.
5) Other nations on the SC such as like, everyone but the UK can do all kinds of stuff to provoke Bolton which will hang even more around the GOP next year!

I'm firmly convinced that Bolton at the UN is a key component to the BFEE plan for the NEXT invasion in the Middle East.

It's just a sneaky way of doing this. Not even sneaky. It's very much in our face and stinky. Standard operating procedure for bush, et al., abuse of power.
