Peace Fresno leader freed from charges
4th item in package of briefs

Charges were dropped Thursday against a Fresno teacher who was arrested last year while participating in a downtown Fresno peace demonstration at Courthouse Park.

... (Ken Hudson, vice president of Peace Fresno) was arrested during a demonstration commemorating the one-year anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. He was charged with delaying a police officer.

... Hudson approached him a second time and displayed the permit to prove he was an organizer of the event and again asked the officer whether he could move so that the demonstration could begin.

At that point, the deputy, who was speaking with another person who was being disruptive, ordered other deputies to arrest Hudson.

1. Fresno County Sheriff's Dept. are idiots
It's like having the Dukes of Hazzard in charge. We are on the outer fringes of Fresno County (it's huge) up in the mountains. We've been here almost 4 years, and the good deputies have made a number of trips to our ranch now. They have been rude, insulting, and dangerously unknowledgeable of the law. For example, they told our equally idiot neighbors down the road, who have been trying to overrun us with their cattle for the past year, that they could string barbed wire across OUR main entry gate. This, instead of just closing the gate on their own property to confine the cattle. So now it's turned into this huge deal, we've had to hire a real estate attorney, who is in the process of filing an injunction. It's going to cost us a bunch of money, and the atty. is just appalled over the actions of the deputies and their stupidity. Free range cattle have not been legal in this area for 50 years.

I had another run-in with these bozos last week. My husband thinks they're bored. I think they are harassing us because we are transplants (and maybe because they've seen the bumper stickers on my truck!). Regardless, I'm thinking of filing a formal complaint. And yes--we were at the PeaceFresno anti-war demo this year.
