Musharraf says no troops to Iraq sans UN cover
ISLAMABAD, October 07 (Online): President General Pervez Musharraf Monday reiterated that Pakistan would not send its troops to Iraq without United Nations (UN) cover adding Pakistan is in serious consultation with Islamic countries on the issue.

Musharraf said that it was not possible to send Pakistani troops to Iraq without getting any consent from brotherly Muslim countries but added that the consultation in this regard was progressing. We cannot take a big decision like this at our own, he added.

Earlier General John P Abizaid apprised him about his countries need in their tough going in Iraq and said that sending army troops to Iraq was need of the time to ensure peace and stability in the country.

However, President Musharraf told him that without cover of UN and consultation on this serious issue between the Muslim countries, Pakistan could not take a decision at its own and send its army troops to Iraq.
