Report Fuels Fear That NY City Won't Get All of Promised 9/11 Aid
What do you expect? You're a blue state. - Anonymous Republican.

Published: October 6, 2003

New York officials have long worried that the city will get billions of dollars less in federal aid to rebuild Lower Manhattan than the $21.4 billion President Bush promised after the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

Although the White House, Gov. George E. Pataki and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg have dismissed those concerns, a new report by the General Accounting Office is helping to increase them.

The report, which will be released this week, says no information is being collected to determine whether many of the tax benefits that account for a quarter of the entire federal aid package are being used. In essence, the report says, the city may never know how much of the $5 billion in so-called Liberty Zone tax benefits are ever used.

2. NY
9/11 survivors are there as props for Bush, it was foolish of them to think he would actually help them out with anything. However, they're welcome to show up at his next photo op and smile pretty for the cameras if they like.

Screw NY! Fort Worth, Texas needs a NEW LAKE DOWNTOWN! No, you won't be able to swim in it, boat on it, or eat the fish caught in it. But the fat cats in downtown Ft. Worth need all the tax dollars you and I can deliver- including from the federal treasury- to put a lake where God didn't intend it. After all, when big shots gaze out of their tax-abatement generated office buildings, they want something pretty to LOOK AT. They want a LAKE!

Don't you wish the Washington Press Corps had the guts to demand explanations from the Republicans in Congress and in the * administration about their spending prioritites? Some "liberal" press!

4. I'm sorry, but if they really thought they would get what Bush promised
after all the lies that man has told, well...

How long after 9-11 did the much lauded firefighters lose their fire-stations and benefits after promises by Bush that they would be taken care of and have new effective equipment? All lies!
