Bush Asserts Israel's Right to Defense - Yahoo
<http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=540&e=1&u=/ap/20031006/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_mideast>

snip> WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) declined to criticize Israel Monday for its air strike deep inside Syria, saying Israel "has got a right to defend herself." But Bush also said he had cautioned Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (news - web sites) to try to avoid escalating tensions in the region.

I think it is a little too late to advise Sharon to avoid escalating tensions. The place is exploding before our eyes.

3. this is the Bush Doctrine in action
and it's okay as long as it's Israel doing it, but I wonder how the Neocons are going to feel when China decides to "pre-emptively" attack Taiwan? When Pakistan decides it's time to "pre-emptively" take back Kashmir?

4. Israel Should Do What They Feel They Must
Israel should do what they feel they must to protect their national security.

What they should not be allowed to do is to run and hide in our skirts every time they answer violence with more violence.

Let them answer to the U.N. like we have to. No more hiding behind us.

5. We'll wind up attacking Syria via Israel...
That's what this administration has been hinting at for months. Now Bush gets the flag-wavers in his corner for the 2004 election.
