HANOI, May 31 (Xinhuanet) -- A US company has asked the Vietnamese government to license a 500-million US dollar project in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in central Quang Nam Province to repair and maintain aircraft in Southeast Asia.
The company Allied Aircraft Assistance Worldwide Association (AAAWA) wants to build a hangar capable of servicing up to 8 wide-body planes such as Airbus and Boeing and 8 narrow-body aircraft at one specific period, the zone's management board said on Tuesday, noting that the hangar will serve all planes in Southeast Asia.
If the hangar, covering an area of nearly 100 hectares, becomes operational, it will employ some 1,000 people, including foreign technicians. If the project is licensed, it will be the one having biggest registered capital in the zone, the board said.
