Two Volusia teens accused of killing homeless man for fun

The Associated Press
HOLLY HILL, Fla.
Two teenagers have told Volusia County sheriff's investigators that they killed a homeless man for fun and something to do.

Christopher Scamahorn, 14, and Jeffery Spurgeon, 18, confessed to beating the 53-year-old victim with their fists and sticks and kicking him, sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught said Sunday. They went back to the woods three times after the initial attack to beat the man again.

The teens said they attacked the man "for fun" and "to have something to do," Haught said.

3. It'd serve them right but Iraq's suffered enough without these sadists.
Florida Department of Corrections no doubt has a few residents who can give these bastards as much entertainment as they will be able to handle. They'll never be bored again.

7. I also moved here 20 years ago from Wisconsin
I am so disheartened by this news (in my own county no less). My wife teaches in the county school system and she will be devastated (but not surprised) by this behavior. For more info, see the following article in the Daytona News-Journal:

these young people(?) - this is inhuman

Scamahorn told investigators he dropped a large log on the man's ribs and Spurgeon jumped on the log several times.

An autopsy performed Sunday by the Medical Examiner's office determined the man died from blunt force trauma to the head and body, Haught said.

This is the "zone" in the Daytona Beach area. Drive down US 1 in this area for a true vision of the worlds most famous beach. Don't stop too long you might get robbed, hijacked, sodomized or murdered.

Interesting to me is the fact that a similar murder took place on 28th Street in St. Petersburg when two young men killed a homeless man I knew for sport several years ago. He slept under a tractor trailer and spent the day on the park bench nearby. There were so many murders in St. Petersburg. I knew three people who were murdered. Two were homeless. One was the business proprietor next store, a Vietnamese woman. A crackhead I met, was shot six times trying to score. He survived but his companion was shot dead on central ave. My next door neighbor was thrown out of his home by his wife for taking crack and wasting the family assets. He moved into his father in laws business next door and slept there. The last night he was alive he sold his car to a crack dealer, and later that night, sold his bicyle for crack. He was found hanging from the rafters in the store the next day.

Did you hear about the Volusia murders of an entire household of young people, who were killed in a dispute over a video game console? Florida is a cruel environment. The people buying the 400-600,000.00 condos and luxury homes could care less. Very Dickenesque.
