HILLAH, Iraq May 30, 2005 — Two suicide bombers attacked a large crowd of policemen south of Baghdad on Monday, killing 20 and wounding nearly 100, an Interior Ministry official said.

Iraqi police and soldiers immediately cordoned off the area, which was covered with pieces of flesh, pools of blood and shreds of clothing.

Suicide Bombings In Al-Hillah Kill At Least 20

Baghdad, 30 May 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Police say bomb explosions in the Iraqi town of Al-Hillah today killed up to 20 people and injured some 35 others.

Initial reports say two suicide bombers with explosives strapped to their bodies blew themselves up among crowds of Iraqi policemen or police recruits.

The attack in Al-Hillah, south of Baghdad, came as Iraqi forces yesterday launched an offensive against insurgents in the capital. The Iraqi government says some 40,000 troops plan to seal off the city to hunt for militants.

Earlier today in Baghdad, officials from one of Iraq's main Sunni Muslim political parties said U.S. troops have detained the head of the party.

Suicide bombers target crowds of Iraqis, kill 21

By Haider Abbas
HILLA, Iraq (Reuters) - Two suicide bombers strapped with explosives blew themselves up among crowds of Iraqis in the mainly Shi'ite town of Hilla south of Baghdad Monday, killing at least 21 people and wounding 34, police said.

The first attacker detonated his bomb among Iraqis waiting at a medical center where police, army and civil service recruits get check-ups before being hired, police said.

A second bomber blew himself up shortly afterwards among a crowd of police commandos protesting to demand higher wages.

Insurgents have stepped up suicide attacks and ambushes over the past month, killing more than 700 Iraqis since a new Shi'ite-led cabinet was announced on April 28.

Seventy U.S. troops have been killed in May, making it the deadliest month for the U.S. military since January when insurgents tried to derail the Jan. 30 elections.

4. Update-Up to 30 Dead
Iraq Bombers Attack Police; Up to 30 Dead

By PATRICK QUINN

Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Two suicide bombers blew themselves up Monday in a crowd of police officers south of Baghdad, killing up to 30 people and wounding dozens, while U.S. forces briefly detained a Sunni political leader on the second day of an Iraqi-led security sweep in the capital.

Mohsen Abdul-Hamid, head of Iraq's largest Sunni Arab political party and short-time president of the now-dissolved U.S.-backed Iraqi Governing Council, was taken from his home in western Baghdad at about 6 a.m. by military forces, party officials said.

The U.S. military later confirmed it had mistakenly arrested Abdul-Hamid, questioned him and released him shortly after.

``Following the interview it was determined that he was detained by mistake and should be released,'' the military said in a statement. ``Coalition forces regret any inconvenience and acknowledge (Abdul-Hamid's) cooperation in resolving this matter.''

5. LIE look! "wading into a crowd" but the bomb was inside this parked car!
Edited on Mon May-30-05 10:16 AM by dArKeR

The two bombers struck shortly after 9 a.m. in Hillah, 60 miles south of the capital, wading into a crowd of about 500 policemen who were demonstrating outside the mayor's office to protest a government decision to disband their special forces unit, police Capt. Muthana Khalid Ali said.

The bombers staggered the detonations to maximize casualties, said Col. Adnan Abdul Rahman, who was contacted by telephone in Baghdad. Policeman Jiwad Kadhim Hamid said the explosions took place about 100 yards away from each other and about a minute apart.

"I just saw a ball of fire and flying pieces of flesh. After that, confused policemen started firing into the air," he said.

1. The bomb was obviously inside this car. A child could figure that out.
2. As the eyewitness reports a 'ball of fire', I doubt a body strapped "suicide bomb" could be that large. (my opinion.)
3. How could a body strapped bomb on a person in the middle of 500 men explode and char this car? The walls would be charred too.
4. Discounting all the other lies and the Whore WH/DOD change their story into a 'suicide car bomb', where is the FBI investigating this vehicle for DNA, bomb fragments?

What aWol and Rumsfuk are doing in Iraq is blaming everything on suicide bomber to cover up the incompence/"Lies of Slaughter Invasion" of the WH and the DOD!

Note how the bomb inside the car raised the roof of the car!! I believe the car was empty too, no rebel inside. Look how it's "parked" next to the wall. 1. a car wouldn't be driven so close to a wall. 2. the "suicide driver" would surely swerve into the crowd just before detonation.

7. Black Ops-The Salvador Option?
Came across this last week.

My summary translation:
"On Friday , a 64 years old Iraqi farmer, Haj Haidar Abu Sijjad, took his tomato load in his pickup truck from Hilla to Baghdad, accompanied by Ali, his 11 years old grandson. They were stopped at an American check point and were asked to dismount. An American soldier climbed on the back of the pickup truck, followed by another a few minutes later, and thoroughly inspected the tomato filled plastic containers for about 10 minutes. Haj Haidar and his grandson were then allowed to proceed to Baghdad.
A minute later, his grandson told him that he saw one of the American soldiers putting a grey melon size object in the back among the tomato containers. The Haj immediately slammed on the brakes and stopped the car at the side of the road, at a relatively far distance from the check point. He found a time bomb with the clock ticking tucked among his tomatoes. He immediately recognized it, as he was an ex-army soldier. Panicking, he grabbed his grandson and ran away from the car. Then, realizing that the car was his only means of work, he went back, took the bomb and carried it in fear. He threw it in a deep ditch by the side of the road that was dug by Iraqi soldiers in preparation for the war, two years ago.
Upon returning from Baghdad, he found out that the bomb had indeed exploded, killing three sheep and injuring their sheppard in his head. He thanked God for giving him the courage to go back and remove the bomb, and for the luck in that the American soldiers did not notice his sudden stop at a distance and his getting rid of the bomb.
"They intended it to explode in Baghdad and claim that it is the work of the 'terrorists', or 'insurgents' or who call themselves the 'Resistance'.
I decided to expose them and asked your (Mufakirat al-Islam - Islam Memo) reporter to take me to Baghdad to tell you the story.
They are to be exposed as they now want to sow strife in Iraq and taint the Resistance after failing to defeat it militarily.
Do not forget to mention my name. I fear nobody but God, as I am a follower of Muqtada al-Sadir."
