Militants sneer at latest security measures in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq A militant Internet posting scoffs at the latest Iraqi offensive, dubbed "Operation Lightning."

The statement posted in the name of al-Qaida in Iraq says the planned deployment of 40-thousand troops and police around Baghdad won't stop militants from "fighting for God."

The statement calls the forces that will ring the capital "cowards and apostates."

The interior minister and defense minister yesterday announced the forces would set up checkpoints, raid houses and search vehicles to try to stop a wave of militant attacks that has killed hundreds of people in the last month.
