Muslims condemn Koran abuse

May 27, 1:28 PM (ET)

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Waving copies of the Koran and chanting anti-American slogans, Muslims across the world took to the streets on Friday to protest at abuse of their holy book by interrogators at a U.S. prison camp in Cuba.

In Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, outraged Muslims burned U.S. flags and vowed revenge.

"O America, listen, listen, with my blood I will protect my Koran," shouted thousands of Lebanese at a Hizbollah rally in a Shi'ite suburb of Beirut. "America is the enemy of Muslims." Similar protests swept the country's Palestinian refugee camps, where bearded Islamists hoisted pictures of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, and his Iraq-based ally Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

The commander of the Guantanamo Bay prison camp said on Thursday that the U.S. military had identified five incidents of "mishandling of a Koran" by U.S. personnel there.

2. You got that right.
At this very moment, Washington is breathing a sigh of relief, that they dodged a bullet once more.

What they DON'T realize, is that this was the last straw for the Muslim world. It was the line in the sand that was crossed by Bush and his heathen cronies.

I don't blame the muslims for feeling slighted.

Just last week, I read that over 300 mullahs in Afghanistan were contemplating waging a "Holy War" against America, for this final desecration. Just imagine, what those fools in Washington have done.

Pandora's Box.

4. Those 300 mullahs should just flush copies of the Bible
down the toilet, and call it even.

7. Muslims demand Bush apology
http://www.dispatch.co.za/2005/05/28/Foreign/bush.html

CAIRO — Waving copies of the Koran and shouting anti-American slogans, thousands of Muslims across the Middle East yesterday demanded an official apology from the United States for the alleged desecration of Islam’s holy book by military prison interrogators in Guantanamo, Cuba.

Protesters, many of them recruited by Islamic groups in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Sudan, called on their leaders to stop the “humiliation” and boycott America in retaliation for the abuse claimed by Newsweek magazine in a now-retracted report.

US investigators have found that military personnel mishandled the Korans of Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, but no “credible evidence” has been found that a holy book was flushed in a toilet, a detail in the report that had enraged Muslims.

Many protesters believe the magazine only retracted under pressure from the US administration.

12. LOL! That was my thought too--rots o' ruck!
It would be nice if they kept up the demands until the WH were forced to reply with something. I want to see what contortions they have to go through this time to say it wasn't OUR fault, WE don't make mistakes. Slimebuckets.
