Taguba's report documents an amazing number of escapes from Abu Ghraib during the period he investigated. That part of it never got much attention because the torture stuff overshadowed it, but the impression you get is that nobody running Abu Ghraib really knows what the hell they're doing.

4. Damn, never knew about actual escapes. Just the one raid on the prison.

The "insurgents" went all out to attack the prison. Nobody escaped then, I believe.


"Some 40 rebels fired rocket-propelled grenades and set off two car bombs at the infamous prison as darkness fell Saturday night, 1st Lt. Adam Rondeau said. Soldiers and Marines stationed at the detention facility responded, and the resulting clash and gunfight lasted about 40 minutes.

"This was obviously a very well-organized attack and a very big attack," Rondeau said."
