German authorities have arrested a Palestinian believed linked to two al-Qaida suspects who are accused of plotting a suicide attack in Iraq, prosecutors said Sunday.
The 28-year-old man identified only as Ismail Abu S. was arrested Saturday at his home in the western town of Marburg. His brother, identified as Yasser Abu S., was arrested in January along with an Iraqi.
Prosecutors have said Yasser Abu S. apparently planned to fake his death in a car accident and later carry out a suicide attack in Iraq. Most of the insurance payoff from the fake accident - worth about $1.17 million - was to be used to fund unspecified al-Qaida activities, they say.
Prosecutors said it was unclear whether Ismail Abu S. knew the money was intended for al-Qaida.
