Sadr undertakes Sunni-Shiite mediation
BAGHDAD - The movement of radical Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr started mediating on Sunday in the crisis sparked by murder accusations from Sunni clergy against Shiites in the government.

A delegation from the charismatic cleric’s movement met with Sunni clerics from the influential Committee of Muslim Scholars at its headquarters in Baghdad’s Umm al-Qura mosque.

The group, consisting mainly of Sadr’s representatives in Baghdad, met with Sheikh Abdel Salam al-Kubeisi, in charge of the Sunni organisation’s public relations, an AFP correspondent said.

“There’s a mediation and we are going to talk openly about what happened,” said a Sunni official on condition of anonymity.

3. Looks like Sadr is trying to compete with Sistani and the elected
government.

4. He knows Negroponte et al are purposely provoking chaos.
Sadr is no dummy. Iraqis must be united in repelling the foreign invaders. He'll nurture a tenuous "peace," until the occupation crumbles.

Then, civil war.
