Army recruiter in Gainesville is charged with rape
May 21, 2005

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A U.S. Army recruiter accused of raping a woman who was interested in joining the military remained in the Alachua County Jail on $50,000 bond Saturday.

<snip>

Kirkman has been suspended pending the outcome of the criminal investigation, said Ted Jones, spokesman for the Jacksonville Army Recruiting Battalion. He may be transferred to the Army's custody on Monday. It could not be determined if he had a lawyer.

According to Gainesville police Detective Joe Mayo, the 20-year-old woman said she had gone to Kirkman's apartment Thursday to take a recruiting exam on a computer. The two were reviewing the woman's test scores and sitting on Kirkman's bed when he raped her, according to an arrest report.

Mayo said police have no information of other allegations against Kirkman. But police said they learned Kirkman brought other applicants to his home, a violation of Army policy.

could happen if she signs up.

Bastards.

Does the Army castrate? Or will they just send him to Baghdad if he has that much anger pent up?

10. This may be happening all over; it happened here too
There is a recruiter here in Indiana being charged with this only he did it with 3-5 female recruits, or potential recruits. The one here would rape them on their way to their induction meeting !!

Also, I heard that a reserve unit here that was being deployed to Iraq soon, had orientation meetings where the males and females were separated at one point and the women were told to EXPECT to be raped during their deployment ! Either by the enemy or by our own soldiers.

I heard this from a wife of a male member who was in the unit. The men could not understand why all the women were so upset when they came back from their females-only session, but one of the women is married to another man in the unit. She finally told him what they were told in the orientation, and I guess he told the other guys.

Some pretty ugly situations for ordinary people thrown into the breach of GWB's Crusade for Oil, God, and Dominance, eh?

12. What we are seeing is a break down of discipline
this is similar to what we saw at Abu Ghraib and I am sure there are many more horror stories. But what can you expect when your Commander in Chief is a AWOL wacko who has no regard for the rule of law?

8. well...this is the first time he's been charged-
even tho' it says that he has brought other potential female recruits to his home.
maybe it worked for him(and in turn, the Army) in the past instances.

4. PARENTS: go to your kids' schools, sign the forms to prevent contact
Edited on Sat May-21-05 09:53 PM by havocmom
information for your kids from being given to recruiters! DO IT PRONTO!

NCLB requires that ALL schools receiving any federal $$ provide the contact info on all students in their junior or senior years of high school to military recruiters. The only way to stop them from getting your kid's name, number, address, so on is to sign a form with the school opting out. If you do not do this, military recruiters can be courting, spinning, lying to, testing and preying on your kids!

Bad enough the bastards sneak behind parental backs and 'befriend' kids at a time when many naturally have some difficult times with parents. Bad enough that they can pull them out of classes for tests in many schools. Bad enough that they seduce teens with promises of travel, schooling, getting out from under parental control, glamour and excitement. Bad enough that they can work the kids over for 2 years before they turn 18 and then on that magic birthday, have them sign on the line with no discussion with mom & dad... Now they have a member of the team who takes prospects to his apartment for 'exams'?

:wtf:

Folks, if you have kids in school - sign the opt out forms and make damn sure you have the lines of communication as wide open as you can between you and the young people in your households.

Even if you don't have kids, get the word out. It is still not understood by many parents.

They are preying on youngsters and fucking with their minds behind parents' backs. Help put a stop to it.

11. in the No Child Left Behind piece of shit law it states:
"Sec. 9528. ARMED FORCES RECRUITER ACCESS TO STUDENTS AND STUDENT RECRUITING INFORMATION."

"(a) POLICY.--
"(1) ACCESS TO STUDENT RECRUITING INFORMATION. -- Notwithstanding section 444(a)(5)(B)of the General Education Provisions Act and except as provided in paragraph (2), each local educational agency receiving assistance under this Act shall provide, on a request made by military recruiters or an institution of higher education, access to secondary school students names, addresses, and telephone listings.
"(2) CONSENT.--A secondary school student or the parent of the student may request that the student's name, address, and telephone listing described in paragraph (1) not be released without prior written parental consent, and the local educational agency or private school shall notify parents of the option to make a request and shall comply with any request."

(the caps used here are what is used in the NCLB act itself)

my daughter's high school in DuPage county illinois did not notify us and handed out information on all the juniors and seniors at least three times this year. i'm sure they did it all last year as well--no one was notified. when i contacted the district office i was told it was an oversight.

whoops. meanwhile a recruiter got my kid's info. i didn't find out about this crap in the nclb until march. i turned in a form i downloaded from militaryfreeschools.org. within one month after i turned it in, the info on all the juniors and seniors were passed out to two more recruiters--except for my child and seven other parents who had heard of this and turned in their own little form.

anyway--note that the law states "secondary" schools. so technically they could hand out a freshman's name address & phone--that would be a 14 year old kid! (and the schools have to allow recruiters in their building to solicit the kids as well. and they do!)

25. then maybe you should try to find out
if the student's info is being given to recruiters. how absurd would that be??? but--the repukes probably feel it can't hurt to plan ahead.

the wording in the nclb bill says "secondary" schools--it doesn't specify a students age. if your school is considered "secondary" with sixth graders in it then the school should probably be informing parents and telling them they have the option to "opt-out".

i can't imagine how insane i would be/get if i found out the recruiters could come and collect information on my child at the sixth grade level! (high school is bad enough!)

23. My understanding is YOU HAVE to go to your kid's school.
And different schools have different policies for the opt out. Have read that some only allow the forms to be signed and sent in during a narrow time frame while others are very actively trying to inform parents about it and are most accomodating.

Navy Recruiter Admits To Recruit Abuse

Navy Recruiter Admits To Recruit Abuse

A former U.S. Navy recruiter is sitting in the Iberia Parish Jail waiting to be sentenced for sexually abusing recruits.

The jury was ready for trial Thursday, but earlier this week 27-year-old Joseph Sampy pled guilty before his case went to trial.

Tuesday in court Sampy admitted he's guilty of three counts of sexual battery. The assistant district attorney prosecuting the case tells me he took advantage of his position as a Navy recruiter and took advantage of three young recruits.

Prosecutor Angelique Narcisse says it happened two years ago in 2003.

According to state law, sexual battery means Sampy either made the recruits touch his private parts or he touched them.

more at above link

((Apparently, he liked to give his own, private, late-night "physical exams" to young people interested in joining up.))

16. Give me a break...what do you EXPECT from these
dogs of war? You wanted an all "volunteer" army you got one. These are mercenaries, don't you get that?

No it doesn't mean they should be excused from rape, pillage and plunder but reading any history of ANY mercenary army should tell you what to expect.

We knew what would happen we just thought it wouldn't happen at "home". Well now we reap just a little of what we have sown across the planet. We deserve it and will continue to deserve and receive it unless we change.

Draft now, bring ALL troops home now. Institute a 100% DEFENSIVE military, now. Save untold billions and build America's economy at the same time.
