Military: Blues, But Not Green (Only 189 go from Navy/AF to Army)
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7775255/site/newsweek/

In case anyone still doesn't understand that recruiting is now the toughest job in the Army, the service missed its April goal by 42 percent. It was the third month in a row that the active-duty recruiting mission was not accomplished. Worse, the Pentagon was counting on absorbing a decent share of some 27,000 service members that the Air Force and Navy are letting go this year as part of Defense Secretary Don Rumsfeld's grand realignment plan. Operation Blue to Green—trading blue service uniforms for Army green—this year was expected to turn 3,500 airmen and sailors into soldiers and help the military adjust to quick-deployment, land-based warfare.

More than halfway into the fiscal year (which ends Sept. 30), Blue to Green has produced 189 soldiers, according to the Army

2. It's shocking that so many brave airmen and sailors

would decline the opportunity to get shot and blown up.

However, it does restore my faith in their sanity and intelligence.

3. I'm glad to know that our navy and air force personnel are so intelligent.
The lesson here is: Never ask troops to fight in a war that a corrupt pResident like Bush lies us into, and never ask them to fight in a war that is not in defense of their nation.

Protect America. Bring the troops home now.

6. My son's in the Air Force and he said they were offering $35k bonuses
to people who would switch to the Army. I asked him if anybody was doing it and he said, "Hell no!"

8. To show you how desperate they are...
When I was in the navy, I was in the nuclear power program. Recruiters killed to get people into that program because there was such a shortage of qualified applicants. I have heard from current sailors in that program that they are now allowing students in the training pipeline to transfer to the Army.

When I was in, the only ways to get out of the program were to do drugs, flunk out, tell them you were gay, or complete your service.

The Army must really need some serious cannon fodder...

10. So people are more likely to sign up because ...
... they prefer Blue instead of Green.

Let's drop invent free clothing for the army. Maybe it'll bring in another 189 soldiers
