Iraq Qaeda vows to avenge Iraqi shot by Marine-Web
DUBAI, May 6 (Reuters) - Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq vowed on Friday to avenge the fatal shooting of a wounded unarmed Iraqi in a Falluja mosque by a U.S. Marine last year, after he was cleared by the Marine Corps, according to an Internet posting. "O nation of Islam, do not be surprised (by the ruling to clear the Marine) ... as they are crusaders and Jews who have declared war on Islam and Muslims," said a statement from Al Qaeda Organisation for Holy War in Iraq on an Islamist Web site.

"We are determined to avenge our brother and we shall not let off or rest until God's law rules the land," said the posting from the group, led by Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Its authenticity could not be verified.

After a five-month investigation, the Marine Corps said it determined that the Marine corporal fired in self-defence and would not face a court martial for the shooting in November, shown in blurry images on a widely aired videotape.

The Iraqi was one of five wounded left in the mosque after the Marines fought their way into the formerly rebel-held city of Falluja.

The group led by Zarqawi has claimed responsibility for a string of attacks against U.S. troops and the Iraqi government.

1. did they find that the Iraqi was indeed armed?
Or was it just implied since he was an Iraqi?

2. Just Implied

Now you have to understand that this Marine was cleared by the Marine General who was in charge of the Siege of Falluja, but there
was no conflict of interest here?

This can almost be compared to Himmler investigating a brutality charge against an SS guard at Sobibor. The outcome was already decided, before the investigation began.

And now this Marine and probably some of his buddies could very well be under the impression that they can do it again, without having to
worry about anything happening to them.

4. Why shouldn't they be under that impression?
It's true. They have nothing to fear. And when they return, they can join the NYPD and keep up the good work. Hey, brown people is brown people.

(Apologies to the 95% of the NYPD who are good and don't fire forty-one shots at an unarmed man lying on the ground.)

3. I think they concluded that it was pre-emptive self-defense
The same rationale as Rumsfield used for the Iraqi invasion. The man may have gotten better in a few years, bought a gun, flew to America, pulled out a phonebook, than gone Kill Bill on that soldier's butt. So it was justifiable.

Either that, or they just don't give a damn about an Iraqi life. Take your pick.

5. "Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq?"
Notice how they slipped the little "Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq" into the beginning of the first sentence? That maintains the desired canard that Iraq was involved in 9/11. Nowhere do they explain that any "al Qaeda" in Iraq today are there only because of Bush's criminal behavior.

6. Yeah, it's always
"Al-Qaeda organisation for holy war" that is behind all the bad things in Iraq, and of course they're led by the mysterious Al-Zarqawi. And they admit to everything on their official website, and the authenticity of their statements can never be "independently verified". And it is completely impossible to track down the people who run that website, of course.

11. Notice how the HEADLINE is IRAQ QAEDA?
How much would you like to wager that this was intentional, to "remind" people that it was "Iraq Qaeda" behind 9/11?

Total revisionism before our very eyes. Disgusting.

14. Self Defense?
I would sure like to have seen that trial. I did see the Video and it looked like murder to me but since I wasn't there or at the trial I guess I cannot be sure. The remarks: " Looks like he's breathing" and a few seconds later was shot and then, "He aint breathing now." seemed cold hearted.

The attack on Falluja seemed like overkill and what has that devastation really accomplished?
