White separatist candidate soundly trounced in school board election
White separatist candidate soundly trounced in school board election

By GAIL SCHONTZLER, Chronicle Staff Writer

Bozeman voters turned out in large numbers in Tuesday's school election to deliver a resounding no to white separatist candidate Kevin McGuire.

Voters in the Bozeman elementary district re-elected incumbent Sara Garcia, who received 4,039 votes, and elected first-time candidate Gary Lusin, with 4,031 votes.

McGuire, 23, a recruiter for the National Alliance, received 157 votes, or 3.6 percent of the total. The National Alliance's vision of creating a whites-only society, cleansed of other races and of Jews, became the election's central issue.

2. Hey I remember arguing (well disagreeing) with someone about this on DU

He claimed that in Montana, where so many white separatists run amok apparently, that this guy would get a lot of votes. He googled a few stories to support this assertion.

Glad to see he was wrong.

5. Bozeman is a relatively liberal college town
And frankly, Montana is Republican, not right wing lunatic. Now IDAHO and UTAH....

3. A bit alarming though, that 3.6% of voters...
support such an extreme agenda. Yikes

6. I thought there were more republicans out there & McGuire would
do much better than that. Good for Montana.

7. MT is full of Republicans
Just that they don't fit your stereo type of redneck white supremists/seperationalists!
Too bad he wasn't just a plain old separatist as in the "Free state Project", he would have won in a landslide.

9. Sir, we in MT would ask if you have ever spent much time here or do you
just believe everything you read while keeping a narrow scope on your google site?

For most of my lifetime, MT has gone slightly Dem. Oh, and most of the hardcore bigots I meet here are STILL from other places. For some reason they think they can come here and find kindred spirits. Mostly they are ignored by the locals.

10. MT is full of republicans that
vote in a dem governor, vote FOR a medicinal marijuana act, pass a resolution through BOTH houses (w/ a crazy big majority) whipping the USA PATRIOT Act, and kicked the shit out of a mining corporation that wanted to start cyanide leach mining outside of Lincoln. Yep, we sure are full of those evil republicans.

Sheesh.
