59.5% Nationwide Call For Tom DeLay's Resignation
FAIRFIELD, Conn., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a poll by the Sacred Heart University Polling Institute, a majority of Americans surveyed, 59.5%, suggest that Congressman Tom DeLay should resign from his position as House Majority Leader.

"The poll numbers regarding Congressman DeLay have serious political consequences for Republicans in their forthcoming 2006 congressional elections, and suggest that pressure for resignation will most likely be forthcoming from fellow Republican congressmen who see DeLay as a serious political liability," stated Dr. Gary L. Rose, professor and chair of Sacred Heart University's Dept of History and Political Science.

1. well
In a rational society, he would have already been indicted and forced to resign. Actually, he never would have got elected in the first place.

In retrospect, we should have never demanded Trent Lott step aside..we should have left the bigot there to REMIND people during the election that THIS IS the REAL face of the Republican party

5. You are quite right,
HE is the true face of the republican party, much more that Laura, Arnold or the rent-a-minority for the convention.

6. Oh Arnold is very much the face of the Republican party..the
pretentious reformer who slams people for fundraising while catering to special interests.

10. Yea, but not brains
This is why we should love the Uglies more too. Tom Delay and the brave CAT MURDERER are such good salesmen for the party. I just hope they all can stay on, they are so much fun to have around

I still got that $20.00 mark (donation to DU) that says Delay doesn't resign

3. Overdue
Yep. Way overdue. He can now join the illustrious ranks of recent shamed and disgraced house republican leaders like Gingrich and Livingston. What a bunch.

8. I personally hope at this point
that he stays & runs again because now that his "popularity" is rapidly dropping, I think this would be the best chance we have for Lampson to win his seat.

13. Tom Delay for President!
Why won't they nominate him? He's the perfect Republican. He stands for everything the GOP as a whole stands for: theocracy, plutocracy and fascism.

I wish they'd nominate him.
