In union-organized demonstrations elsewhere in the country, hundreds of thousands of German workers criticized capitalism and denounced companies for squeezing workers' salaries while demanding longer hours. <snip>
Addressing about 7,000 protesters, union leader Michael Sommer called on the government to come up with concrete actions to combat what he called companies' increasing focus only on profits at the expense of workers.
"Criticizing capitalism only helps when it is used for practical purposes," Sommer said. <snip>
