Protesters hold sit-in at University of Hawaii to oppose Navy center

HONOLULU (AP) Students, faculty members and community activists took over the University of Hawaii president's office to protest a proposed military research laboratory.

At least 50 people arrived at interim President David McClain's office yesterday and stayed overnight.

They oppose the university's plans to enter a five-year 50 (m) million dollar contract with the Navy to establish a classified research center on the Manoa campus. <snip>
