Insurgent Attacks in Baghdad Kill 20 (Friday)
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050429/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq

<snip>
The worst-hit area was a district of Baghdad where four suicide car bombs exploded, hitting Iraqi soldiers and police and Iraqi civilians on a Friday, the Muslim day of worship for most Iraqis.

An American soldier also was killed and four were wounded in a roadside bomb attack in Hawija, 150 miles north of Baghdad, on Thursday, the U.S. military said.

<snip>

In the Azamiyah section of Baghdad, the first suicide car bomb hit an Iraqi army patrol, the second a police patrol, and the third and fourth — in quick succession — separate barricades near the headquarters of the Interior Ministry's local special forces unit, said police chief Brig. Khalid al-Hassan.

Col. Hussein Mutlak said the attacks in Azamiyah killed at least 20 Iraqis, including 15 soldiers and five civilians. At least 65 were injured, of them 30 troops and 35 civilians, he said.

3. Chris Matthews said yesterday after the press conference that the
insurgency is fading away. My question is: Who gives these idiots the power to keep the American people "informed"? Do they even pick up a newspaper?

5. Just like a good prostitute. Chris strokes it just the way he is told.
He reminds me of Rita Morano at the end of Carnal Knowledge. He knows how to please his paying customer. Bu$h Inc. But Chris`s credibility with thinking people faded away a long,long time ago.

19. I had no idea how bad a Friday in Iraq it turned out to be.
:( I just returned from a field trip with my son's class. On the radio I heard TEN car bombings. You know it is going to get worse than even this if one can imagine that. The longer we stay the more imaginative and ruthless the resistance will become.

freedom indeed. :puke:

4. updated link: Bombs Aimed at Iraqi Forces Kill 24 People
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Car bombs targeting Iraqi security forces killed at least 24 people on Friday, immediately putting the new government under pressure to tackle an insurgency that shows no sign of weakening.

Eighty-nine people, mostly police and National Guardsmen, were also wounded, police said, a day after a cabinet was formed following three months of post-election wrangling.

The attacks came a day after Parliament voted in the new government of Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, with several seats left vacant.

Thirteen people died, including seven soldiers and two policemen, and 50 were wounded, including 13 soldiers and two policemen, in four apparently coordinated car bomb attacks in two districts of the capital at about 8:00 am (0930 IST), the official told AFP.

13. Yesterday Bush said things in Iraq were improving
I guess he didn't listen earlier this week when General Meyers said the insurgency was as strong now as it was a year ago.

Attacks are back up to 60-70 a day.

Assassinations and attempted assassinations of Iraqi politicians occur on a daily basis.

And scores of Iraqis are getting killed daily.

That's some bubble he lives in. I wonder where I can get myself one.

CBS/AP) Insurgents staged a series of car bombings and other attacks on Friday, killing at least 27 Iraqis and wounding dozens a day after the country's first democratically elected government was approved.

20. Europe would never tolerate such incompetence in govt.
They've learned from the "best" sociopaths not to go down that road again.
