Moussaoui to plead guilty to some charges
Move means no criminal trial, but sentence unclear

BREAKING NEWS
The Associated Press

Updated: 12:31 p.m. ET April 20, 2005A federal judge has allowed accused Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui to plead guilty to unspecified charges and he will do so Friday afternoon, the U.S. District Court said Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema accepted the request by Moussaoui, the only person in the United States charged in connection with the terrorist attacks.

The government has charged Moussaoui with being part of an al-Qaida conspiracy to commit terrorism that included the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon near Washington.

Moussaoui, a French citizen, could face the death penalty, although his sentence would be determined in a trial that would follow any plea.

8. I would rather have a criminal trial then a confession. You know we
must have threatened his family to get this confession. We don't want any trials of any kind where "terrorists" are concerned. Wonder what deal will be struck with Saddam? We just can't have trials that might reveal the truth to the American people.

4. We had hundreds in jail and this guy is the only one charged
in connection with an attack? This is just unreal.

5. Now he pleads guilty
First he confessed, then he retracted his confession, then there were "serious concerns about his mental health" I recall.

7. Remember, AshKKKroft wouldn't ask for a warrant
before the attacks, even though the Minneapolis FBI office was begging for one...(Hello Colleen Rowley):

"The resistance from Washington got so bad, she writes, that agents in her office joked that some FBI officials "had to be spies or moles, like Robert Hansen , who were actually working for Osama bin Laden." "

This case was also fucked up four ways to Sunday...

"Moussaoui, an alleged Sept. 11 conspirator who is representing himself in court, is not supposed to have access to classified information because he does not have the proper security clearance. But court filings unsealed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria revealed that federal agents entered Moussaoui's jail cell on three occasions to try to retrieve 50 classified FBI reports, which had been mistakenly included among tens of thousands of pages of documents as part of pretrial discovery procedures.
The reports, which contained sensitive information from FBI interviews about Moussaoui and the al Qaeda terror network, should have been marked classified and would have been dangerous if left in Moussaoui's possession, prosecutors said in court filings. "
