All charges dropped against Buddy Dyer (Orlando Mayor - D)
The witch-hunt is over...

A special prosecutor dropped all charges today against Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and three others who had been indicted for allegedly violating a state law that prohibits payments for collection of absentee ballots, a former Democratic Party leader with knowledge of the case said.

Dyer, a Democrat who had been suspended by Republican Gov. Jeb Bush when the charges were announced March 11, will be automatically reinstated as mayor with dismissal of the indictment. The decision also means there will be no May 3 special election to choose a temporary replacement.

1. Didn't work Jebbie!
The whole thing was bogus and the "investigation" was really part of your Central Florida voter suppression scheme....

Hope Dyer rides this horse all the way to the State Capitol.

9. The Florida Constitution has no provision for the recall of a Governor,
ergo, a recall cannot be done unless there is a Constitutional Amendment...

5. Sounds like one of them "activist" prosecutors
Good for Dyer. Now maybe some bright lawyer will turn his or her attention to the REAL election scandals perpetrated by the FL Repukes.

They'd better load up on life insurance first.

8. Good!
Ol' Jebby can go after a Democratic Mayor, but didn't do squat in 2000 when a Repug offical let Repug workers shift through registration application and ILLEGALLY correct the one of repugs and throw out the democratic one.

10. They couldn't make charges stick because,
Glenda Hood and Mel Martinez did exactly the same thing Dyer did when they were running for office back when (Glenda for Mayor and I can't remember what Mel was). If they went all the way and tried to prosecute Dyer, they would have had to also prosecute some of thier own Republican sweethearts. That's pretty much what I think this whole thing boils down to.

Orlando mayor, 3 others cleared of absentee ballot charges

By MIKE BRANOM
Associated Press Writer

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- The state dropped all charges Wednesday against Mayor Buddy Dyer and three others who had been indicted for allegedly violating a state law that prohibits payments for collection of absentee ballots.

Dyer, suspended by Gov. Jeb Bush when the charges were announced March 11, entered a pretrial diversion agreement and was reinstated to the office hours later. The court document said Dyer "voluntarily agrees that he and any of his future election campaigns will abide by the state's interpretation" of the law.

The prosecutor's decision also means there will be no May 3 special election to choose a temporary replacement.

Dyer claimed the decision by special prosecutor Brad King showed that he never did anything wrong.
