Venezuela Proposes Regional Literacy Campaign
More plots from the power mad Chavez:

Caracas, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela proposed an ambitious literacy campaign in Latin America on Tuesday, backed up by international institutions and based on Cuban and Venezuelan experiences.

Venezuelan Education and Sports Minister Aristobulo Isturiz said the country is about to declare itself an Illiteracy Free Zone, which will be done when the country reaches 1.5 million who have learned to read and write.

Isturiz said that Latin America does not need to wait until 2015 to reduce the number of illiterate people by half, since this can be immediately done if the ambitious proposal is put into practice, with Cuban cooperation.

He was speaking at the opening of the 2nd National Pedagogical Congress on Tuesday, which will analyze the future of education, starting with an integrated program to provide free education to all of the population, up to university level.

Prensa Latina

Can you imaging any of the stooges we have running this country
doing this? Raising investment in education and literacy, how "leftist",
how "radical", how "militant".

2. Educating the people - what a novel idea!

.

From the posted Article:

"Since Hugo Chavez came into power, the level of state investment in education has risen from less than 3 percent of the local Gross Domestic Product to more than 6 percent, and a program of renovation and construction of schools has commenced."

Anyone have any idea what the US gov't investment in education is GDP-wise?

We know Dimson didn't double it - that's a certainty

Dimson's $$ are all for war - he IS a "War President" ya know -

He told us so!

4. One of the bright lights of our hemisphere
And indeed of our time.

We could use people like Chavez at the head of our ineffectual Democratic Party.
