Transport Workers Union Local 100 filed a lawsuit yesterday against Liberty Lines, Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano and Transportation Commissioner Larry Salley, seeking to stop the county from paying Liberty Lines while the 48-day Bee-Line bus strike continues.

In the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, Southern District, in New York, the union also demands payment for more than $1 million in wages lost by striking workers.

"We filed the lawsuit because we believe this is county-sponsored union busting,'' said Ed Watt, the union's secretary-treasurer. "I know a lot of taxpayers would object to their money being spent like that, so we filed a lawsuit.'' <snip>

Although the union does not know exactly how much Liberty Lines is being paid, it claims the company has been paid at least $2 million a month, based on news reports. <snip>
