A minority police leader charged yesterday the NYPD has a racist double standard in dealing with suspected bad apples - and even likened the Police Department to the Mafia.

The comments by Anthony Miranda, head of the National Latino Officers Association of America, drew a swift and strong rebuke from police brass.

Miranda said high-ranking white cops who get into trouble typically keep their pensions, but minority officers do not.

He mentioned some cases reported in the media involving high-ranking white cops - but did not give any examples of minorities who lost their pensions under similar circumstances.

"The Police Department's administration is like the mob," said Miranda at a news conference at 1 Police Plaza.
