RNC raises $32 million in three months
RNC raises $32 million in three months

SHARON THEIMER
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The Republican National Committee raised a record $32.3 million from January through March, more than double the Democrats' total.

The RNC finished March with $26.2 million on hand, Chairman Ken Mehlman said Monday. The money it collected in the first quarter tops its fundraising during the same period in 2001 and 2002, before the national party committees were banned from collecting corporate and unlimited donations. It also exceeds its fundraising in early 2003, the first year the parties were limited to contributions from individuals and political action committees.

The Democratic National Committee raised $13.8 million in the first quarter. That includes at least $1 million a week since former Vermont governor and presidential hopeful Howard Dean took over as chairman in mid-February. The committee has $7.2 million in the bank.

The DNC views it as a strong start for the year, said spokeswoman Laura Gross.

3. we always start out a little slow. who cares. i don't believe in voting
machines anymore... that's the real issue, not how much money we raise. i have NO faith in the voting process at ALL. it's a freaking LIE.

6. Gas should be sold as Regular, Premium and RNC
Edited on Mon Apr-18-05 09:30 PM by MissWaverly
Really, let's just make it easy on everybody, every gas pump should be regular, premium and RNC, that way your money can get funneled directly to their party, and the lobbyists won't have to worry about paperwork, 2/3 for the oil companies and 1/3 for the Republicans with
no corporate taxes or employee benefits. And they only scooped up 32.3 million with the oil companies making record profits, they should be ashamed of themselves, they are truly slipping up.

7. How does DNC fundraising compare to the past?
Is it better, worse, or about the same compared with post 2000 or similar times? Can the RNC spend their money funding Delay? I hope they can find ways to spend on useless causes.

giving money to the party cause they're pissed at the corporatists running the party, with reason might I add.

Good for the DFA types that give $1 mil a week for Dean.
:patriot:

BTW "regular, primium, and RNC" Good one Miss Waverly, I'm using that at my table next week.

Thanks

It is a great meme for us. Short quick and to the point, I'll gladly nominate it for greatest.

People should use it as often as possible, I will.

Thanks again.

13. 1 million a weak since Dean took over - we're getting there - just takes
time.

The Democratic Party has been so neglected for so long, it will take a little bit of time for us to catch up - but it can and it will be done.
