Rove: White House 'strongly' behind DeLay
no surprises here...

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/04/18/rove.delay/index.html

snip:
Rove, the strategist who ran President Bush's two presidential campaigns, said DeLay, a Texas Republican, has been the target of partisan attacks by "desperate" Democrats.

"Tom DeLay is going to continue to be a strong and effective majority leader for the Republicans in the House," he said on CNN's "Inside Politics."

snip:
Rove said he was confident the questions surrounding DeLay would be "resolved to everybody's satisfaction" by the House ethics committee.

11. It saddens me to say this
but Rove and all these guys act as if they know the outcome of all future elections. It's not up to the voters anymore. You wouldn't continue to be this brazen if you did not have the system rigged. They literally don't care if they fall to a 1 percent approval rating as long as the 1 percent gets to count the votes.

And I am not just talking about the presidential election. I am talking about ALL significant elections - federal, state and even local for that matter.

34. I agree completely.
So many of us seem to forget how these rigged elections are the root of the problem. You can't move forward on ANY issue until the fundamental right to vote is taken back by the people. Of course, the people will have to wake up and realize that they've been f*cked by the fascists (who, incidentally, pulled off 9/11). Large numbers of people will have to take some responsibility and get out of their easy chairs and demand change. Until then, it doesn't matter if Tom Delay stays or goes, or if Rove is behind him or not. It really doesn't matter.

50. Exactly. In a fascist dictatorship, who cares
about approval ratings. Those only matter where the governed elect their government. That doesn't happen here. Those days are long over. As for 9-11 my first thought when I saw what happened that morning:

"THEY KNEW"

...and my thought hasn't changed one iota since, except I've become even more convinced that they knew...

51. I agree
and I've been thinking this since November. as long as the polls are close to evenly split on job approval, they'll continue to behave as though they have the support of the majority, but when the numbers start to go 40/60 or 35/65 or worse then they'll have a rough time of it. Right now though, no one wants privatized accounts, but asshole keeps acting as though folks are buying it.

14. Look at Karl, stepping to Lott's tune
President Bush needs House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to further his legislative agenda and should be more outspoken in his defense against ethics charges, Sen. Trent Lott, Mississippi Republican, said yesterday.

"I do think the White House needs to remember that people who fight hard for you as a candidate and for your issues as a president ... deserve your support, aggressive support," said Mr. Lott, who resigned his majority leadership post because of the furor over comments he made in 2002.

"Again, he may feel that he shouldn't get into the details of the workings of who the leaders are or how the leaders act in the House or the Senate. I read very carefully what he had to say last week. ... I wish it had been more, frankly. Frankly, he needs Tom DeLay," Mr. Lott told ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos.

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20050418-125215-5685r.htm

Poor, poor Trent knows how traumatic a coy WH can be.

Fucking corporate media. CNN just doesn't get it - there would be more than "newspaper articles" if they were doing their job properly. They're "reporting" - but how about some real old-fashioned investigating.

a martyr, that is why he is backing him. Delay will fall, and while ostensibly supported by Karl, Rove will spin it back onto Democrats and "Activist" judges that lead to DeLay's downfall. DeLay will then be painted in the light of a good, moral, alomost pious man ripped down by liberals and the liberal media. He is always one or two steps ahead of us. We need to catch up to his thought process and battle him there.
