Hyde says he will retire in 2006
Rep. Henry Hyde, the Illinois Republican who steered the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton and championed government restrictions on the funding of abortions during a decades-long House career, announced Monday that he will retire when his terms ends in 2006.

Hyde, 81, who serves as chairman of the House International Relations Committee, was first elected in 1974 from his Bensenville district near O'Hare International Airport.

"Together we have a litany of accomplishments of which we can be proud, including protecting the lives of the defenseless unborn; bettering the lives of the elderly; supporting and assisting the developmentally disabled; strengthening education; improving infrastructure in our district and our state; protecting our homeland; and helping to preserve freedom,'' Hyde wrote in the announcement on his Web site.

4. Cegelis got 44% of the vote in 2004 in this district
against a giant like Hyde.

If we really put a lot of resources this district is winnable.

14. Actually that was a lot like "Weekend at Bernies"
They didn't want to lose the seat because the SC governor at the time was a Dem. Although if they let him go when he should've they would've just got a pink tutu democrat instead.

AND hyde).

Good riddance, henry-the-'hole. You make the Pharisees look like angels. But I doubt it'll be angels your soul will be fraternizing with.

Hell is for hypocrites. When Our Lord referred to those "who are without sin" who can throw the first stone, He may well have had YOU in mind, henry.

7. Excellent news.
One more retired hypocrite. :applause:

His litany of accomplishments?

"Together we have a litany of accomplishments of which we can be proud, including protecting the lives of the defenseless unborn; bettering the lives of the elderly; supporting and assisting the developmentally disabled; strengthening education; improving infrastructure in our district and our state; protecting our homeland; and helping to preserve freedom..."

EVERY ONE of these claims is false.

I'd love to see the old son of a bitch take a header down the Capitol steps--especially if he broke his pelvis on the way.

(Sigh.) I guess I'm going to hell for this.

What an execrable human being.

I'll never forget hearing him decry intellectuals on the floor of the senate.

Screw "Godwin's law", Hyde sounded like a Nazi as he attempted to overthrow a duly-elected president that day.

Hyde, a man with a brilliant mind decrying intellectuals, Hyde, a married man who broke up a family that included three young children, decrying a man for doing far less.

Farewell to the ragged old fool, the filthy old hypocritical failure.

25. Good. Fucking. RIDDANCE.
The one image of Henry Hyde that will remain with me is THE SMIRK on his sanctimonious face back in '98 when he was trying to convince the country that a blowjob was a Grave Constitutional Crisis. The only person that REALLY seemed to work on was his little ass puppet, A$a Hutchin$on--who very soon began sporting the same SMIRK.

Later--no, NEVER--you sack of shit, you!

28. G-D POS SOB spoke here about 15 years ago and
we're still trying to get the oil out of the carpet and the stink out of the air.
The worst part of this, if the Sunday Trib and today's Herald are any indication, is how we're going to be subjected to fawning, kiss-ass tributes to this slimey, youthfully indiscreet bloated pustule from now until January 07.
