Dean opens the attack!
Dean lays out the message for the 2006 and 2008 campaigns based on the GOP's handling of the Schiavo case:

"The issue is: Are we going to live in a theocracy where the highest powers tell us what to do? Or are we going to be allowed to consult our own high powers when we make very difficult decisions?"'

zactly, give'm hell Dr. Dean, they've asked for it :toast:

End Times in Florida...when fundies move in to town

AKE CITY - Of late, Judy Ayers had been on edge. She'd noticed some peculiar things around her neighborhood: armed sentinels watching motorists through binoculars; brown-suited men fixing up homes into the wee hours.

She had tried to shrug these things off as eccentricities, coincidences. But then, while driving into town one fall afternoon in 1987, she spotted her 21-year-old son, Eric, cornered in an Amoco lot by two angry men in khaki jumpsuits.

3. Here's a snip!
"Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, who has accused congressional Republicans of "grandstanding" in the Terri Schiavo case, said his party will use it against the GOP in coming elections.

"This is going to be an issue in 2006, and its going to be an issue in 2008 because we're going to have an ad with a picture of (House Majority Leader) Tom DeLay saying, 'Do you want this guy to decide whether you die or not? Or is that going to be up to your loved ones?"' Dean said in West Hollywood, California."

4. Is this person an total idiot??????
<snip>
Republican National Committee spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said Dean, a physician who practiced internal medicine, was the one politicizing the issue.

"It's disturbing that Howard Dean would plot to use the life of Terri Schiavo for political gain," Schmitt said Saturday. "This demonstrates a troubling lack of sensitivity and one would hope that Democrat leaders in Congress would reject such a strategy.

7. As if the
Republicans weren't thinking of doing the same exact thing. They are on the wrong side of public opinion and they know it. As they would do if the roles were reversed, I hope the good Doctor rubs their faces in it again and again.

14. Rightwing asshole radio jock picked up this talking point this AM
Said that she didn't see the Schiavo matter as political, as Democrat and Republican alike saw Terri as a life worth saving, and she appreciated Rev. Jackson comeing to Florida--

But HOWARD DEAN was going to politicize it!

Now, it helps to know two things. First is, it wasn't Dean who finagled a vote in Congress, or sicced the Florida governemnt on the husband, or threatened Judges with retaliation. Second, Eileen Byrne is a snotty little twerp who does nothing except repeat other talking head's opinions in a sneer stolen from a thirteen year old girl.

9. Tracey Schmitt--Putting on appearances
by using using the "play the victim" strategy. She supposes all adults must have the mental maturity of 8 year olds and we need protecting from 'something'.

Or is it demonstrating that someone has the courage to stand up and call it what it is, instead of perpetrating as someone who wants to stand on 'manners' to rob all of us of our right to medical choice and medical decisions being made by those WE choose, not the RW?

The RW want to take away our right to choose how we manage our own death. If we can pay or have insurance, then they want to go to court and fight for us to remain in pain or in a lingering vegetative state, yet if we don't have the money to pay or have insurance, then--at least in Texas, the hospital can pretty much 'evict' you and let you die, even if you want to live some more. If the RW wanted to play it like they did before Schiavo died, then they can't complain when it's flung back in their teeth now. They should be proud of their handywork--at the time it was going down, they were sure embracing it. Was it worth all of the effort now that they've got to pay?
