Bin Laden can still be found, Rice says
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 09:17 PM by cal04
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she is still confident of finding the leader of the Al Qaeda terrorist group, Osama bin Laden. It is more than three-and-a-half years since the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, which made bin Laden the world's most hunted man.

Speaking to a conference of American newspaper editors in Washington, Dr Rice said she is confident that he will be captured. She says the United States and its allies have made a serious dent in the operations of bin Laden's Al Qaeda network, which she says can no longer operate freely in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia or along the Pakistani border.

Dr Rice has also praised the media, saying a free press is essential to the
process of democracy in any country. "We see the growth of a free media as an important indicator of whether or not a country is a vibrant democracy," she said.
"The free flow of ideas and information is literally the lifeline of liberty and in our most rational moments, even we public servants appreciate what you do."

And yeah, I'm sure Condi appreciates what the MSM did for her, Buh, and the rest of the neocons prior to the election. It was a real republican propaganda fest, 'specially the coverage of the swiftboat liars.

As in hunting around the water cooler while discussing "the apprentice".

Bin who? Huh? Is he at the end of the yellow brick road they're paving with billions from the Treasury?

Odd how the little guy only pops up when it's time to vote. Have we heard from him since tapes of him scared people into voting incorrectly?

16. Yes, Virginia...there is an Osama bin Laden.
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 10:14 PM by Career Prole
We take pleasure in answering thus prominently the communication below, expressing at the same time our great gratification that its faithful author is numbered among the friends of Rush:

"Dear Rush--I am 8 years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Osama bin Laden.
"Papa says, 'If you hear it on Rush Limbaugh, it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth, is there an Osama bin Laden?
Virginia O'Hanlon
115 West Ninety-fifth Street

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the scepticism of a sceptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be Republican's or whining liberals's are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is an Osama bin Laden. He exists as certainly as hate and apathy and avarice exist, and you know that they abound and give to you the President you deserve. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Osama bin Laden! It would be as dreary as if there were no Saddam. There would be no child-like fear then, no internecine battling, no terror alerts to make tolerable this administration. We should have no wars, except in think tanks and video games. The eternal light with which neo-conservatism fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Osama bin Laden! You might as well not believe in private accounts! You might get your president to draft enough soldiers to watch in all the caves in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and all those other 'stans to catch Osama bin Laden, but even if you did not see Osama plotting nefarious deeds, what would that prove? Nobody sees Osama bin Laden, but that is no sign that there is no Osama bin Laden. The most real things in the world are those that neither conservatives nor scurrilous liberals can see. Did you ever see Zarqawi dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that he is not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the terrorists there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only our visionary President, his mentor Dick, Karl, Condi, and making the Patriot Act permanent, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the towering mushroom cloud and destruction beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Osama bin Laden! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make free men vote for their own imprisonment.

(My apologies to the editor of the Sun for the shameless cribbing...

23. History will record that the incompetence of Dr. Rice ...
and many others in the Bush administration contributed, in large degree, to the successful, tragic attack on the United States on September 11, 2001. There is no record of any action taken by the administration in response to an intelligence report entitled "Bin Laden Determined To Strike Inside The United States."

It is a disgrace to our Nation that the primary mastermind and perpetrator of this attack is still at large - anywhere on the globe. An absolute disgrace, thanks to the corporation-serving administration of George W. Bush.

27. You know.....after listening to these people for over 5 years....
I've finally concluded that they do this on purpose. They're

a) teasing us

b) not sure if anyone's paying attention since they're so outrageous.

Notice, they say the most outrageous things. "....a vibrant democracy...". "Free flow of ideas....lifeline....liberty...."

On and on she goes. I've always said that these people connect with our deepest rage. It really comes down to the things they say in such a buccaneer manner, that it just defies all description. Condaloser Rice resonates with my deepest sense of homicidal rage. That's the reason why I never turn on the TV any more. In fact, it's gone. Not because of her, but because of Bush. He was just too outrageous, too roguish for me.

I surfed into the DU about 2 years ago. I was riding a wave of extreme anger over what I was seeing happening to my country. Thank GOD for the DU, where I could unload my seething anger. Think of the surface of the sun, that's how pissed I was that this country had been turned over to people like.......her.

45. It wouldn't surprise me if they really did find him.
If Bush's poll numbers keep dropping, they may pull bin Laden out of their neo-con hat. After bin Laden is caught and does his perp walk for the media, he will be held at secret location and not allowed to talk to the media for "security purposes".

Yep, I can see something like that happening.

31. How much good would it do now?
This Administration thought the capture of Saddam Hussein would lessen if not end the rebellion in Iraq. Osama Bin Laden though not being a head of state like Saddam, may have reason to believe, even if caught, a trial (and closure for us) will be slow in coming. Any captured co-conspirators may claim they were tortured and most of the other co-conspirators are dead. I still hope that Osama Bin Laden is caught because it will most likely be due to heavy foreign assistance (a slap at Bush's unilaterism) and I can stop checking under my bed before I turn in at night. Thumbs up to Career Prole #16, a jolly good read! :)

The Regime has known bin Laden's whereabouts since well before 9/11. They know exactly where he is right now. If he wasn't so good for business uncaptured, he would have been paraded around in a Susan McDougal jumpsuit years ago!

bin Laden is worth WAY more to bu$hler while he remains free.

Thanks to the idiot son and the willing to do anything for financial gain whores in his administration,
there are hundreds of thousands willing to do the job for Bin Laden for free.

The only value capturing Bin Laden has to the Repubs now, is the conversion of a few more blind
