Ex-Intel Chief Blasts Bolton at Hearing
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050412/ap_on_go_co/un_ambassador_5

A former chief of the State Department's bureau of intelligence and research castigated John R. Bolton on Tuesday as a "kiss-up, kick-down sort of guy" who abused analysts who disagreed with his views of Cuba's weapons capabilities.

With Bolton's nomination to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Democratic attack, Carl W. Ford Jr. appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to support accusations of harassment. "I have never seen anyone quite like Mr. Bolton," Ford testified under oath. "He abuses his authority with little people."

Sen. Joseph F. Biden, Jr., D-Del., who is leading the fight to block the nomination, responded angrily to the accusation of mistreatment. Anytime a senior official calls in a lower-level one "and reams him a new one," he said, "that's just not acceptable."

-snip-

Ford told the committee he considered himself a loyal Republican, a conservative and a strong supporter of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Ford said he appeared before the committee only after a lot of "soul-searching."

3. But Chafee (the iffy vote_ does not seem concerned

But Sen. Lincoln Chafee (news, bio, voting record), a moderate Republican whose vote could be critical, noted calmly that analysts criticized by Bolton had "kept their jobs." The Rhode Island Republican has already described himself as inclined to support confirmation.

4. I'm freaking out at how they're stacking the deck against us!
I just read this, and then the info about Negroponte being forced through. Same old scary, evil men controlling our Country.

Honestly. Please, can someone give me a good answer as to WHY most Americans are clueless about what is happening in America right now?

Jobs going overseas. Jobs cut here all in the name of corporate profits. Health insurance is a thing of the past. Corporate America running the airwaves. States struggling to help those screwed by corporate America, but find themselves screwed by the Feds. Schools, social service organizations, medical care, child care, libraries, all suffering under the Republican rule. Pollution is increasing again. And.. the same thugs from Bush I are back in power.

WHY is America clueless?

8. Many WANT this
They WANT a tough, unilateral foreign policy. They WANT regulation removed from business. They think less health insurance will mean less demand on health care and reduce prices so people can pay for it themselves. They WANT less govt services. And they think the harm from pollution is over-stated.

That's the thing too many Democrats don't seem to get. Before you can get people to stop voting for Republicans, you have to correct the misinformation about how the economy really works in the first place and how our foreign policy is directed by economics, not personal safety.

9. Clueless Americans PREFER Denial, I've had many
a conversation with, apparently, caring, 'intelligent' people about the full scale unraveling of the 'state of the union'--their response: 'O, this is just a phase'...eventually our leaders will work all these things out', you know, this is America, we are always number one.....bla, bla, bla.....they simply REFUSE to see what is taking place with critical observation and review.

12. Ex-State official describes Bolton as abusive, questions suitability
BY JONATHAN S. LANDAY

Knight Ridder Newspapers

WASHINGTON - (KRT) - A former senior State Department official on Tuesday called President Bush's nominee for U.N. ambassador a "serial abuser" of subordinates who wanted an intelligence analyst sacked for challenging his view of Cuba's biological warfare capabilities.

"I came away with the distinct impression that I had just been asked to fire an intelligence analyst for doing his job," said Carl W. Ford Jr., the former head of the State Department's Intelligence and Research Bureau, or INR, recalling a February 2002 confrontation with the nominee, Undersecretary of State John Bolton.

Ford told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that he considered Bolton "a quintessential kiss-up, kick-down sort of guy" whose treatment of INR analyst Christian Westermann and himself raised questions about his "suitability for high office."

Ford's blunt testimony under oath didn't appear to jolt any of the panel's 10 Republicans into joining the eight Democrats in opposing Bolton, a tough-talking advocate of U.S. global superiority who in the past has strongly criticized the United Nations. <snip>

14. Bush's UN nominee a 'serial abuser'

April 13, 2005

Bush's UN nominee a 'serial abuser'
By Chris Johnston, Times Online

John Bolton, President's Bush nominee as US ambassador to the United Nations, has been accused by Democrats of abusing junior staff who did not share his hardline views.

Carl Ford, former head of the State Department’s bureau of intelligence and research, yesterday denounced Mr Bolton as a "kiss-up, kick-down sort of guy" who verbally abused an analyst, Christian Westermann, for questioning whether Cuba was developing biological and chemical weapons.

Mr Ford was giving evidence before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at the confirmation hearing for Mr Bolton, who has often called the United Nations irrelevant and misguided.

Mr Ford was the only witness called besides the candidate, who testified for more than seven hours yesterday. "I have never seen anyone quite like Mr Bolton. He abuses his authority with little people," Mr Ford said.

18. M$Ms are predicting a BOLT ON win!
This is one sorry country.

Between Negroponte, Rice, Goss, BOLT ON, and the others we have destroyers, liars, thieves of the constitution. UN, US, and little people everywhere.

Where is Superman?

Just take a look at the evil. It is mind boggling.

Then take a look at our Dem leaders.

Don't even bother looking at the Repub leaders - little Negropontes and Cheneys - all of them. They are not Americans when they vote in lock step with their majority leaders our of fear all of the time.

If I went for a job interview and saw that the boss looked like him, and had those facial expressions, I'd turn around and walk away.

It's fairly common for the facila hair to lose color first.

Though it sure does look like some ol' cat crawled up on his dome and died, dunnit?

it certainly wouldn't be "bi-colored hair-man."

Although, dammit, now that I think about it, maybe I should! We "bi-colored hair-men" DEMAND and end to this unwarranted name-calling and discrimination, and RIGHT NOW!
