A court in Italy jailed a man for 19 years yesterday for his part in two satanic ritual killings which were committed when he was a minor.

Mario Maccione, a member of the Beasts of Satan heavy metal group, was 17 when he helped murder a young couple whose bodies were found in woods outside Milan in January 1998.

"This isn't justice," said Lina Marino, the mother of one of the victims, sobbing after Maccione was convicted. She demanded a tougher sentence.

Another suspect, Massimiliano Magni, was acquitted yesterday for lack of evidence.

2. To be a Satanist you have to be a Christian

Great, now Fundie Borg-agains will see Satan's influence everywhere. Problem is, only Christians become Satanist. We pagans don't believe in the prince of darkness. Only in Christian cultures can Satanism exist.

We never see Satanism in Jewish or Muslim culture.

I wish the International press would treat this for what it is. A bunch of wacko druggies getting off on killing people. You don't see Pagans freaking out over Christianity every time a Texas Mother kills her children (there have been many).

And what is it with Texas fundie mothers anyway?

And, this retired social worker says that is exactly who they were: "a bunch of wacko druggies getting off killing people."

how does a band name get metaller than that? Okay Cradle of Filth is good. . . great metal name, spooky and disgusting but I think Beasts of Satan wins just on pure aspiration.

it makes me almost want to turn on the 700 club to watch Pat Robertson put a logo of Beasts of Satan up and say that world culture is being overrun with commie satanists intent on turning christians into headbanging cannibals - because you know he will/already has/is doing so as I write this stupid run-on paragraph
