DALEVILLE, Ala. - An official with a union representing more than 3,500 workers at Fort Rucker said they are prepared to form picket lines near the military installation if contract talks with the Army fail to produce an agreement.
Marvin Wise, the chapter president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local Lodge 2003, said union members will vote at the Ozark Civic Center May 1 to ratify or reject a proposed new contract.
The old contract expires the same day.
"The contract consists of changes in benefits, wages, and conditions for our work," Wise said. "We're in the midst of contract negotiations at Fort Rucker but just in case we do have to strike, we're getting prepared." <snip>
