PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Sep 29 (PNS) - Afghan transitional President Hamid Karzai, who is now-a-days on official visit to the United States, has reportedly succeeded in persuading the Bush administration to give him more time for bringing peace to the war-torn.
“Securing more time means the postponement of general elections, which is going to be held in June next year in war-ravaged country under the Bonn Agreement,” said a knowledgeable Afghan source while talking to Pakistan News Service.
The source informed that now the Afghan president would announce the postponement of elections after his return from the US. “There are many people in Afghanistan who wants the immediate holding of election as they think that this is the only way for restoration of peace,” he added. (snip/...)
