US forces impose curfew on Iraq's western restive city (Ramadi)
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-03/29/content_2760764.htm

FALLUJAH, Iraq, March 29 (Xinhuanet) -- US troops imposed a curfewon the restive Iraqi city of Ramadi on Tuesday as tensions intensify in the country's western Anbar province, a provincial official said.

"The US troops imposed a curfew on Ramadi and the surrounding areas, setting up several checkpoints in and around the city,"Abdul Rahman al-Dulaimy, secretary of the Anbar province governor told Xinhua.

There was no comment from the US military in Baghdad about the latest security measure on Ramadi.

Meanwhile, in the town of Hit, some 160 km west of Baghdad, fierce clashes erupted between US troops and insurgents, said Dulaimy, adding that a US Humvee was destroyed and two insurgents were killed.

2. this must be a mistake
they must mean that the sovereign Iraqi govt. imposed the curfew, and the U.S. military is just carrying out the wishes of the sovereign Iraqi government.

:sarcasm:

4. Yes, a mistake, because I just heard today our
president say something about the Iraqis owning their country. Or something to that effect.

6. The U.S. military reduced Fallujah from a city with 300,000+ people
...down to 3,000 residents, maybe they'll get Ramadi down to three persons.

7. the Facts: There have been CURFEWS all over Iraq for MONTHS
including Ramdi. I believe the ones in Baghdad before the selection have still not been lifted. More facts: There are no where near enough US or Iraqi Police/Army to enforce said cufews. One more Fact: Lots more people are going to die. More BS, More FUBAR, More Quagmire...

:(

8. You know the situation in the US is pathetic
when you have to get your information on the Iraq War from the People's Republic of China government news agency.
