Anthrax Scare Is Attributed to a Testing Error

A senior military official said in a conference call with reporters Tuesday night that "quality control problems" at the contractor's laboratory appeared to have caused the bioterrorism false alarm.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, noted that any laboratory testing for anthrax usually kept a sample of anthrax on hand to calibrate equipment. He said evidence suggested that the sample had somehow contaminated an air filter from a Pentagon shipping center that had been sent to the laboratory for routine testing last Thursday.

1. A "testing error" better known as social security polling

2. Yup, I knew it couldn't be for real. The anthrax killer was only going

after "libruls:" Daschle, Leyhe (sp), and tabloid journalists that had run "drunk girl" pictures on the Bush twins.

Is there anyone naive enough to think that the gov't doesn't know who this is? And who doesn't want to arrest and have a public trial because it will show beyond doubt that the US was engaged in the same kind of WMD research outlawed and condemned by all civilized nations?

Really sickening . . .

4. my favorite lily tomlinson-ism
i get more and more cynical the older i get, but it is never enough to keep up.
your theory is not cynical enough, imho. bushco is behind it, and that is why there will be no arrest and no trial. unless the good guys get back in power.

10. They released the anthrax hounds before they realized
...that the GA courthouse shooting had hit the fan, and was taking care of business for them. They got blindsided by dumb luck.

Darn, they aren't gonna be able to play that anthrax card again anytime soon. They'd best put it at the bottom of the deck.

7. sent samples to Ft. Detrick, the lab that generates ANTHRAX for attacks
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 11:53 PM by diamond14

anyone see a distinct 'conflict of interest' in having the laboratory that generated the ANTHRAX for the first attacks, be the same laboratory now contracted to TEST for Anthrax, while still under criminal suspicion in unsolved anthrax MURDERS....

shouldn't the pentagoons have considered using a testing laboratory that WASN'T under criminal investigation in unsolved MURDERS?

IMO, NOTHING, no test results, NOTHING out of Ft. Detrick is trustworthy....you cannot trust test results from a laboratory under criminal investigation for MURDER.....do NOT trust the Ft. Detrick laboratory results....

8. I wonder if some partisan Republican pushed the button, covertly, to make
the alarms go off.

12. Your idea would be nicer than CONs using real anthrax AGAIN.
They just needed the alarms to go off long enough to get the poll numbers up. And, this makes a draft easier as well. And, diverts attention from Iraq. and and and

Arghhhh!

11. Make sure the media report the negative results prominently
A point I made earlier today:

Demand the media report this as prominently and with as much airtime or newspaper display space as they originally reported yesterday's scare. No burying this on Page A17.

If they don't, call them on it.
