Dean hopes to turn Nevada blue in '08
I hope we can get rid of Jim Gibbons too!!!

March 2, 2005

Newly-elected Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Tuesday that Democrats can win red states such as Nevada by focusing on grass-roots organizing and by not being afraid to visit rural areas where the party's numbers are small.

"There's not one county in America that doesn't have a Democrat," Dean said in a press briefing during the AFL-CIO executive committee's winter meeting at Bally's.

Dean said he thinks Nevada "is a state we can win" by building true grass-roots efforts in which neighbors talk to each other about candidates -- similar to the successful volunteers President Bush's campaign amassed in 2004.

"I hope that by the '08 election, we'll have people in Nevada talking to people in Nevada," Dean said.

Bush won Nevada by 21,500 votes, or 2.5 percent, in 2004 -- about a percentage point less than his margin of victory in 2000. Dean noted former President Clinton's 1996 victory in Nevada as reason the state can turn blue.

4. Kerry volunteers in NV kicked GOP ass
There were probably 10x the number of Dem volunteers in NV in 2004. The biggest reason NV could go blue in 2008: Harry Reid

14. Oops, I guess my mind sort of "Snapped" when I heard him say...
"...Pro-Life."

What he said is "... We are going to embrace Pro-Life Democrats, because Pro-Life Democrats care about Kids, after they're born..."

Still sounded like pandering or changing the message, to me.

It was on NPR's "Morning Edition" here's the Audio link:

Dean: Democrats Won't Give Up on South
by Mara Liasson

Morning Edition, March 2, 2005 · In his new role as chairman of the Democratic Party, Howard Dean has wasted no time hitting the road. He spoke Tuesday in Jackson, Miss., just one of many red states he has been visiting in an attempt to break the GOP's hold on the South.

15. It's five
Let's review:

2000 Electoral College results
271-266 Bush vs. Gore

2004 Electoral College results
285-251 Bush vs. Kerry

Get real.

For the record, Nevada has five electoral votes. I'm sure your state is MUCH more important. :eyes:

16. It could be, except that Diebold tells use WHO we voted for...
...reguardless of who we vote for here in Georgia, (13 EV) but to help use become re-enfranchized, that might require some, Effort, from the Democrats around the country who's votes still count.

18. for the record, Nevada voted on Sequoias. half the state voted on
brand new Sequoias with printers while over half of the rest of the state's voters got to vote on ten year old Sequoias without printers and limited ability to double check the vote. Those 21,000 crappy machines were all located in the City of Las Vegas where they have controlled all of the past ten years of elections in this state. They were first sold to Las Vegas over ten years ago in spite of much protest and as soon as the purchase was over, the Voter Registrar for LV who bought them jumped ship and went to work for Sequoia and is probably still there and helped the NV SOS make his momentous decision to buy more!!

17. How can anyone in Nevada vote repub after being made the
radioactive dumping ground of the US. How stupid can people be.

Same with California - they get ripped off by Enron and some still vote for these creeps that supported the rip off!

We should have been blue, pure and simple! Why do you think it was so important for Bush to just get 51%? It was the same marked up creep lead he had in other key states.
