Angry Iraqis demand resignations after massive Hilla bombing
http://www.turkishpress.com/news.asp?id=37823

HILLA, Iraq - Hundreds of angry Iraqis protested in Hilla for the second day on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of local officials after a devastating car bomb attack in the city killed 118 people.

The government declared a day of mourning over the attack, the deadliest since the US-led invasion of March 2003.

Some 300 people gathered in front of provincial governor Walid Janabi's offices in Hilla calling for him and others responsible for security to step down.

1. Nobody is resigning in Iraq. It isn't part of chimp's plan
With chimp, the bigger the failure, the harder the slap on the back, and the louder the "nice job".

2. if only Walid Janabi had Bush's media whores
he could come out of this looking like a hero.

He could have gone down to the bomb site with a megaphone, all his failures would have been forgiven. He could have been warned in advance about the bombing and done nothing, he could have continued reading a goat story when the attack was happening and kept reading, and everyone would still be singing his praises.

3. It's been bugging me for months...
...all these accounts of people getting killed "waiting in line" for this or that. Has neither the coalition nor the Iraq government caught on to the fact that they shouldn't create administrative situations that result in people waiting in line on the sidewalks? Or if there's no avoiding it, wouldn't sidewalk blast sheilds in front of police stations/etc be common sense?

:grr:

Were I in Iraq I wouldn't wait in line for anything at this point.

5. Come on, if these Iraqis were so desparate for money
that they would even try to join the police, they were passed being worried about their own safety. They were already dead men walking...

6. I'm not blaming the victims...

It would be the administration(s) that would be responsible for preventing unneccesary clustering in vulnerable areas. Somehow they apparently don't seem to take that responsibility very seriously.
