(Australian govt) Minister attacks animal rights group
Federal Agricultural Minister Warren Truss has attacked an animal rights group, claiming it has been involved with terrorist groups in the United States.

Warren Truss says there is evidence linking People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to other groups that have conducted terrorist-type actions on farm industries, including blowing up delivery trucks.

......
Mr Truss says the Federal Government is investigating whether it can legislate against PETA.

"I'm saying that we don't want that kind of activity in Australia and that organisations that are prepared to be associated with violence of that nature need that fact to be exposed," he said.

Dont worry that interest rates went up today and rather poor economic growth figures (worst in 3 and a half years) there are terrorists living amongst us. Lock em up.

1. Meanwhile, the blood is knee deep at the abattoir.
Violence is in the eye of the beholder, Mr. Tuss, darling of the cattle "industry".

As I read the original post, I had a hunch that this guy must be involved in the mass slaughter of animals.

Funny how one's opionions follow one's wallet.

3. Under Australian law, if they outlaw PETA...
it would mean that even sending PETA a donation would land you in jail for 20 years. That's our so-called anti-terrorism laws at work for you...

8. I lived through the worst of Joh Bjelke-Petersen...
and I can imagine him doing this had he become PM. But the demise of the Qld Nationals is what I suspect will happen to the Republicans in a couple of years' time.

7. Court case coming up involving PETA and the Wool Industry.
PETA has a long history with Truss, involving their campaigns
against mulesing and also the live export of sheep and cattle.

There is a court hearing due on March 11, in which PETA is seeking
to have the Federal Court throw out a claim for damages made by
Australian Wool Innovation, which would effectively stop PETA's
campaign against mulesing.

How very convenient that Mr Truss should suddenly discover that
PETA are just a bunch of evil terrorists.

10. Prepares to get flamed
Seriously folks, there are a lot of animal rights groups that deserve support far more than PETA does. PETA is the Operation Rescue of animal rights.
