U.S. ambassador criticizes Cdn. defence spending
The outgoing U.S. ambassador to Canada disagreed with critics who have suggested Canada-U.S. relations soured during his four-year term.

But he also criticized the Canadian government for its reluctance to sign on to the missile defence program, CFCN's Kirk Heuser reported.

"We believe it's in Canada's sovereign interest to be part of the decision-making process," said Cellucci.

There's no question in my mind he's receiving specific orders from Washington in terms of how to approach the whole issue of Canada-U.S. defence relations," Professor Rob Huebert from the University of Calgary Centre for Military & Strategic Studies told Heuser.

( I despise this man and he can leave soon enough for me, he has exacerbated the tensions between Canada and the US by his interference in our internal affairs. He was deliberately acting outside the traditional purview of an ambassador.)

1. Oh, fer Gawd's sake, when will he shut up?
I thought he quit the job months ago, but he's been spewing about our defense spending every week for the last few months or so.

Cellucci, Go! Get OUT! Leave already! Bugger off!

3. I think the bastard told the WH that Canada would join...
both the invasion and occupation of Iraq and sign on to MDS with no problem and he is pissed because we didn't do as he dictated and is going to continue to open his pie-hole and spew right up until he gets on the plane to leave at the very least.

4. Why should Canada carry water for "big brother?"
Canadians value some national independence and that's a good thing. The US only wants Canada to relieve some of its imperial pressure on its rancid underbelly.

someone equally as nosy and pushy and arrogant.

At any rate, it's great to see him go, even if the feeling lasts for only a few days.

6. Wow, what a wanker
To try to justify the huge spending by the USA, and to get more money given to the US defence contractors, he thinks he can criticise another government for not wasting money. Diplomat? Try arsehole. If the US decreased its war spending to an average level, (somehow, the word 'defence' just doesn't apply to the US military) then half of the world's problems would be solved.

9. Isn't Cellucci a part of Carlyle?
He probably stands to benefit personally and handsomely from any Canadian "defence" spending.

BTW--chemtrails all over the place this morning in the Chicago area. Who's defending who from what?!!

12. He's part of the Neocon invation of Canada. Not going very well is it!!
AS witnessed by the fact that Canadian Conservative Leader (leader of the opposition sort of) is loudly complaining that some 'unknown' print shop mysteriously got a hold of their Conservative Party Logo and Member of Parliament mailing list and sent out anti-gay letters to all the conservative MPs - tell them how to send the same propaganda on to their own constituents.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Now who would have decided they were so important that they could usurp the Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada in this battle over Same Sex Marriage? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Something tells me not more than a few sycophants will be out of work very soon

NOTE TO KARL: When the only potentional Neocon in the whole Parliament starts to complain about the dirty trick - try something else.

Oh - and Canadians? Only 20% religious.

Excuse me while I get my Kazoo and start a celebration.

Koooroookoook ooookoooo ko ko ko ko
