Israel's Finance Minister Netanyahu attacked
<Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was violently attacked at a wedding party by people who oppose a Gaza withdrawal plan, Israeli media reported Friday.

Netanyahu was not injured in the attack.

Some extremist Jews have pledged to oppose the "disengagement'' plan even at the cost of going to prison, and threats of violence have been made against Sharon and other Cabinet ministers who support the pullout.

According to media reports and a rabbi who was updated with details from the incident, Netanyahu arrived at the wedding late Thursday and was verbally and physically attacked by a group of extremist youths.

The youths threw unidentified objects at the former prime minister and slashed the tires of his armored car, media reported. The group also shouted slurs at the minister. >

5. One hopes peace finally breaks out in Israel or there will be

One hopes peace finally breaks out in Israel in this next decade or there will be a few bombs in the years to come.:nuke:

I do not see what would be wrong with forcing the radical elements within Israel (er ... Israel and other spots nearby under control of Israel) to be kept under control in the same manner that the radical elements in the Palestinian parts are at present. So nobody on any side gets a gun and does what the nut-bomb did a decade ago and kill any chance at peace.

I was not against marshal law in Canada during the october crisis. At the time it was frightening to people. But the crisis was averted and thirty-five years later the terrorist now hang out in bars and impress co-eds or something. Why would I be against it during the last chance at peace Israel has?

I take it you ignore the CIA and FBI in your own country because you find them ill-informed and dangerous and useless? Unless you are living on the Ark in the middle of an Ocean - you benefit from policing measures every day. And I for one think you can increase those measures in times of utmost importance. Then let the Zionist radical militia sue your ass when peace has broken out if they want to.

I am just tired of the nut-bombs always winning, simply by using a tiny bit of terrorism. Aren’t you ?

And yes I think the Patriot Act goes too far!

2. In other news
Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried on Tuesday to torpedo a government-sponsored bill to return money to Holocaust survivors, a bill he had previously supported.
<snip>

parliamentary commission of inquiry recently found that the state is holding approximately NIS 500 million belonging to Jews who died in the Holocaust.

Commission chairwoman Colette Avital (Labor) called Netanyahu's behavior "scandalous." "It is simply unbelievable that the finance minister of the State of Israel is battling Holocaust survivors, and trying in every way possible to prevent their heirs from receiving the funds that are legally theirs," Avital said.

The bill calls for the establishment of a public corporation that will work to return the money to Holocaust victims' heirs. The bill states that money belonging to individuals who cannot be located will be distributed among humanitarian causes, especially those which offer assistance for needy Holocaust survivors.

8. AG orders crackdown on extremists after Netanyahu harassed
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/539211.html

<snip>

"Attorney General Menachem Mazuz said Friday that he views harassment and violence towards elected officials and security personnel as a grave matter, and ordered police to crack down on such incidents.

Mazuz publicized his position one day after rightist hecklers verbally abused, and subsequently slashed tires of a car belonging to, Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu had to be rushed away from a wedding celebration east of Tel Aviv on Thursday night after a group of disengagement-plan opponents verbally assaulted him and slashed a tire on his car."

<snip>

"Police in Rishon Lezion have detained a 17-year-old youth who is suspected to be one of the activists who shouted in Netanyahu's direction. It remains unclear whether the youth was one of those involved in vandalism."

10. they are fanatics, and fully deserve the police crackdown..
They're ruining any peace prospects and endanger the lives of millions of Israelis, not to mention they're living in illegally captured land.
