(Canadian) Omar Khadr to allege abuse at Guantanamo Bay

TORONTO — Canadian teenager Omar Khadr will add his own allegations of abuse to the growing concern over the mistreatment of terrorism suspects held at the U.S. prison camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The 18-year-old also wants to know why the Canadian government has done little to help him when politicians from other countries, such as Britain and Australia, have advocated on behalf of their citizens held at the camp.

Khadr's lawyers and relatives plan to release recently declassified information at a news conference in Toronto on Wednesday describing what Khadr has undergone in Guantanamo since he was detained in July 2002.

Khadr met with his two American lawyers last November and over four days, told them about life inside the heavily fortified camp. But aside from what his lawyers observed during the nearly 12 hours of interviews, they were restricted from making public any of his statements or allegations. <snip>
