Tsunami aid helps US image - Bush
President George W Bush says US aid efforts after Asia's killer tsunami will improve the US image in the Muslim world as fears that diseases and infections could kill many thousands of survivors recede.

<snip>

"In...responding to the tsunami, many in the Muslim world have seen a great compassion in the American people," Bush said in an interview with ABC News to be aired today.

The president, initially criticised for a slow and limited US response to the tsunami, said he was "very impressed...by how quickly we have responded" to deploy military equipment and personnel for the international relief effort.

"I've got to tell you, our military is making a significant difference," he said.

2. It would really help with the US image
If the US stop giving military support to Indonesian army. It's not like killing 400,000 wasn't enough (or occupation of east timor and the massacre). But wolfowitz can't wait to give 'em more support he's talking to Indonesians.

4. The Indonesian government is barring aid to certain regions
The Indonesian government is making a list of off-limit areas for international aid workers and journalists. Further efforts in the War on Freedom...

3. Objective = help the image, not help the victims.
It's always image. Image should not be the motivating factor in this event. Helping the victims is (or should be) the objective.

11. so long as it is other people's money .........
oh I didn't forget that *Co "gave" $10 thousand dollars - but then I did read that Paul McCartney gave $1 Million - so there you have it - a .1% increase in *Co "popularity" rating with the tsunami victims.

12. Dream on America!!! All relief agenicies want is your Helos!
The word in OZ is that US military forces are using the TSunami for there own "Spying" purposes - thats it! American relief is being ignored except for the fact that the US Military has turned up with "heaps" of helicopters - which are desperately needed and are being used and abused!
China and Russia have provided far more constructive contributions than "The Bush Gang". But of course you Americans will never know!

"responding to the tsunami, many in the Muslim world have seen a great compassion in the American people"

Hey, stupid, I'm sure that the Muslim world already knows that the American people have tons and tons of compassion.

It's our government killing their children that they have a problem with, you dumb fuck.

19. Is he kidding me with this?
He initially offers less than half the cost of his inauguration then finally coughs up the bare minimum (only after being widely criticized) and he thinks this makes him look good? I can't even think of a proper response to this except WHAT A FUCKING MORON.
