Human Rights Campaign makes rare local endorsement
http://www.sovo.com/blog/index.cfm?start=1/8/05&end=1/15/05

The Human Rights Campaign this week endorsed Louisiana gay activist Christopher Daigle in his Jan. 29 special election race for a seat on the Louisiana State House of Representatives.

The endorsement marks the first time the nation’s largest gay political group has endorsed a candidate running for a state legislative seat since 1996. The action has sparked interest among officials with a coalition of statewide gay rights groups, who expressed concern that HRC may be expanding its reach into state and local elections without coordinating its activities with local and state groups.

1. HRC must be looking for ways to screw up
"who expressed concern that HRC may be expanding its reach into state and local elections without coordinating its activities with local and state groups."

I'd say that's a legitimate concern. HRC, with it's fuzzy-headed, assimilationist policy of rolling over and playing butt-boy for the Repugnantcans, is losing whatever slim credibility it had in D.C. ... so now it's no doubt looking to move into new areas that might not be as aware of the organizations recent history. It's unfortunate that a once legitimate organization for gay rights hasn't realized yet that it has outlived its usefullness.

2. I'm gay and I have little concern for who HRC endorses.
They are clearly elitists with an "insider's attitude," and they have little connection with the mass of lesbians and gay men.
