No Apologies from the U.S.
"By late yesterday no US officer had appeared at the main police station in Falluja to apologise or explain what had happened" regarding the killing of eight and injuring of Iraqi police by U.S. troops.

"Lieutenant Ayad Dulaimi, 25, said policing in Falluja had become increasingly difficult because people associated the police with the US military. "We are filled with grief for our dead colleagues," he said. "The fact there has been no apology only adds fuel to the fire."

"The US military refused to discuss the incident and issued a statement saying only that one US soldier and five "neutral individuals" were injured in an attack near the Jordanian hospital in Falluja.

4. The firefight lasted 30 - 45 MINUTES!
And the whole time, the police were pleading for the shooting to stop!

And they were in clearly marked Police cars!

I know you have to cut people in a battle situation a LOT of slack, but isn't this beyond the limit?

6. Careful now
Any attempt to demand accountability from the US will only bring catchphrases and jingoism like, "We need to support our troops, our government, our flag and our president! 9/11 changed everything!"

7. This is an atrocity. A war crime, for real.
The Iraqi police were in two clearly marked cars. The shooting lasted for 30-45 minutes (!) and the entire time the police were begging for them to stop.

Eight dead, four injured. And they were on our side.

Now, we'll see the effects of Bush's refusal to accede to the treaty on the ICC.
