Radio giant criticized over contest that granted breast enlargement surgeries to women
VICKIE CHACHERE, Associated Press Writer

Monday, January 3, 2005

(01-03) 15:17 PST TAMPA, Fla. (AP) --

Radio giant Clear Channel Communications Inc. has come under fire from women's health advocates over a Christmas contest in which stations granted breast enlargement surgeries to women in four cities.

In the "Breast Christmas Ever" contest, 13 women were awarded the procedure after writing essays to the stations explaining why they wanted larger breasts. A Tampa station claimed to receive more than 91,000 entries.

Clear Channel said it had nothing to do with the contest and that it was a decision by local station managers to hold the promotion, which was aired on Clear Channel stations in Tampa, Jacksonville, St. Louis and Detroit.

The contest has drawn the ire of both the National Research Center for Women & Families and the National Organization for Women. NOW has urged its supporters to file complaints with the Federal Communications Commission against Clear Channel and its stations.

1. I know which fucker that is he is a wingnut MJ morning show. He loves
chimpy and apparently women with big brest-eses...

I find that soooooo funny not as much hypocritical as ironic.

Clear channel dumps howard for talking about breasts yet they harbor a man who is giving breast implants.

2. Yep, this is the kind of thing that they dropped Howard for
Or so they say. In reality, it was probably Stern's extreme dislike for the chimp that did it.

4. That's the ecstasy channel in Detroit.
95.5 plays that fast electronic music that sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen.

5. There have been two contests here (SE TX) that did this.
They were hosted by local clubs and one had a country station behind it too.

In the stereotypical column a local country club gave away, in all seriousness, a pre-fab home. I thought that was pretty funny.
