Actor Tommy Chong -- part of the famed Cheech and Chong comedy team --was sentenced in Pittsburgh Thursday to nine months in federal prison and fined $20,000 for selling bongs and other drug paraphernalia over the Internet.

Chong, 65, will be told in a few weeks where he'll have to report to prison.

16. Chong's Judge is My Neighbor!

U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab, who sentenced Tommy Chomg today in Pittsburgh, is a neighbor here in Gibsonia.

Schwab was an attorney for Buchanan Ingersoll, specializing in protecting trade secrets for large corporations, before Bush nominated him for his post in early 2002.

As we in the 'Burgh say... "he's a real jagoff!"

I can only hope that, someday soon, he will face similar justice!

Look at it this way: a guy who spent 16 years capturing, imprisoning, and raping young women gets 18 years, while a guy who spits on a cop gets a life sentence.
Meanwhile, we're turning the clock back to the glorious days when possession of a joint could (and did) get people multi-decade sentences.
It all makes sense, now, doesn't it?

Chong's Bongs Land Him in Prison

The stone-funny actor, who appeared remorseful when he entered his guilty plea in May, didn't help his case the day before his sentencing. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Chong made light of his predicament outside the courtroom, even suggesting it would make a good scenario in his next movie.

Prosecutors also cited an online chat hosted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in which Chong was asked how he felt about the feds targeting pot smokers. He jokingly replied, "I feel pretty bad, but it seems to be the only weapons of mass destruction they've found this year."
