Greenpeace obtains smoking-gun memo: White House/Exxon link
the email, Myron Ebell of the Exxon-funded Competitive Enterprise Institute writes to Phil Cooney, a senior official at the White House Council for Environmental Quality. He describes his plans to discredit an EPA study on climate change through a lawsuit. He states the need to "drive a wedge between the President and those in the Administration who think that they are serving the president's interests by publishing this rubbish." He notes his group is considering a call for the then-head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Christine Todd Whitman, to resign, and openly suggests that she'd make an appropriate "fall gal" if the administration is serious about getting back into bed with conservatives opposing action on climate change.

His memo to the US government official begins "Thanks for calling and asking for our help." (You can view the entire memo here.)

That statement, and the cosy, conspiratorial tone of the document was enough to make Richard Blumenthal, State Attorney General of Connecticut, and G. Steven Rowe, State Attorney General of Maine, demand an investigation by US Attorney General John Ashcroft into whether Cooney or other officials in the Bush administration solicited the Competitive Enterprise Institute's filing of the new lawsuit, as the memo certainly makes it appear.

3. Ha!ha! Ashcroft will hurry up and investigate!
Still, it's a big story, connected with the Global warming + NYC lies from the EPA - one has but keep them up there - in the public's eye. No one will pay for this as long as BFEE is in power!

6. No wonder Whitman quit
quess she knew her ass would be served up on a platter by BFEE. Has she moved to Argentina yet?

The BFEE is like "Hotel California" - "you can check in any time you like, but you can never leave." - The Eagles (I better give credit or else there might be knocking at my door tonight)

7. This Will Be Big Fun
Greenpeace has sufficient media attention to keep this thing going: a refusal to investigate will draw great interest, and a refusal then to prosecute will do great harm, which a prosecution would do as well.

These people are not nearly so clever as they think themselves to be.

8. Anyone really think anything will come of this?
For Gods sakes…This nation of dim bulbs believes Iraq was involved in 9-11, don’t care about the Energy Task Force, are unconcerned about Halliburtons connection to Dickhead Cheney.

While the nation waves its flags and babbles something about “getting gub’ment off our backs” we watch as this administration continues its assault on civil rights to nary a word.

The fact a “radical extremist” (this is what they will call them) environmental group has an email connecting Exxon to the White House means nothing. After all, there is nothing wrong with Exxon having an opinion; the constitution guarantees Exxon a voice and enviro-groups have “access” to Democratic Presidents.

Apathy owns me and I don’t believe anything will come of this>>>> HOWEVER, if the fucking media decided to do their goddamn job Bush would be lucky to get 35% of the vote next year. This administration is dirty, gomer.

13. Print is too tiny
I can't read it. I get the stupid little yellow box which gives their explanation of the email. I just prefer to read it myself. Oh well.
